SHOPPING OPTIONS

USING THE CART for INTERNET CREDIT CARD PURCHASES

1	Add to Cart	From any item shopping page, click the "Add to Cart" to place the item in your personal, electronic shopping cart. This item may be removed at any time. You can choose the quantity and, if the item has one, the qualifier (for example, size or color) before you click the "Add to Cart" button. You can change the quantity at any later time. To change the qualifier, you'll need to remove the item and re-add it with the correct qualifier. Note: Your browser must support forms and cookies for the shopping cart to work. See How It Works for more information.
2	View Cart	From any shopping page, click the "View Cart" button to view the items in your personal shopping cart. On the View Cart page, you can: REVIEW what you have placed in your shopping cart (clicking on the name of an item will return you to the original page and using your browser's "Back" button will return you to the View Cart page), REMOVE any items, if you've changed your mind, by clicking the "Remove" button on the item line, CHANGE the QUANTITY, by entering the new quantity in the quantity box and then clicking the "Change" button, CHANGE the QUALIFIER, by clicking the item name, re-adding the item with the correct qualifier from the item page, clicking the "View Cart" on the item page and clicking the "Remove" button on the item line with the incorrect qualifier. When you have finished reviewing or changing the contents of your shopping cart, you can return to shopping by pressing the "Return to Shopping" button or proceed to the Express Check Out by clicking the "Express Check Out" button.
3	Express Check Out	On the View Cart page, click the "Express Check Out" button, and you will be taken to the Shipping Information page. Complete your order form by: providing the NAME, ADDRESS, E-MAIL ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER WHERE the order is to be SHIPPED, and declare either that you are or are not an adult in the jurisdiction in which you reside. (Gay-MART will only ship items of an adult nature to customers who have declared that they are adults in the jurisdiction in which they reside.) click the checkbox, if you do not wish to be added to the Gay-MART mailing list (you may remove yourself at any time) Click the "Submit Shipping Information" button. If the information is not complete, a message will be displayed noting what information is missing. If the information is complete, the Select Payment Option page will be displayed.
4	Select a Payment Option	Click: the "$CDN Credit Card" button, if you are a Canadian resident and wish to pay by American Express, Discover, Mastercard, or VISA credit card, the "$US Credit Card" button, if you are a resident of the United States or a country other than Canada and wish to pay by American Express, Discover, Mastercard, or VISA credit card, the "Back" button, if you wish to change any information you have given previously or if you wish to return to shopping. Clicking one of the credit card buttons will take you to the Gay-MART section of the InternetSecure website to collect contact and cardholder information securely.
5	Enter Your Cardholder Information	In the Gay-MART section of the Internet Secure site, you will be asked for your name and address. This will be preset to the shipping name and address you entered previously. If you are having the order shipped to someone else, you should change the cardholder information to your name and address. Otherwise, you can submit it as it is. The order will still be sent to the shipping name and address previously entered. The cardholder information will be used if Gay-MART or the credit card issuer has questions about your order. The shipping information will be used if Gay-MART has questions about delivering your order. Click the "Collect Credit Card Information", to submit your Cardholder information and move to the Credit Card Information page.
6	Enter Your Credit Card Information	Still within the Gay-MART section of the InternetSecure site, you will be asked for your name exactly as it appears on your credit card, as well as your card number and card expiry date.
7	Submit to the Bank	Clicking the "Submit to Bank" button submits the transaction to the bank. You should receive a confirmation from the bank via Internet Secure, along with your cardholder and order information (but not your credit card information), which you can print, in under a minute. This confirmation completes the transaction. You can also return to Gay-MART to print the information submitted to Gay-MART which includes all shipping, cardholder and order information (but again, not your credit card information).

USING THE CART for MAIL PURCHASES

1	Add to Cart	From any shopping page, click the "Add to Cart" to place the item in From any shopping page, click the "Add to Cart" to place the item in your personal, electronic shopping cart. 4	Select a Payment Option	Click: the "Print & Mail" button to indicate you wish to pay by check or money order, the "Back" button, if you wish to change any information you have given previously or if you wish to return to shopping. Clicking the "Print & Mail" button will display a completed order form for you to print and mail with your order.

USING A PRINTED FORM

1	Print the Form	A version of the order form has been provided for customers who choose not to use or cannot use the shopping cart and who have a printer available. Print the order form located at Order Form .
2	Add to the Form	As you display the shopping pages, write down the following information for items you wish to order on the printed Order Form: Product Number, Product Name, Qualifier (Color or Size), if there is one, Quantity Unit Canadian Price, in Canadian dollars if you are a Canadian resident, Unit US Price, in US dollars if you are a US resident, Unit World Price, in US dollars if you are neither a Canadian or US resident Line Price, for each product ordered, the Quantity times the Unit Price
3	Calculate Shipping Charges	When you are finished shopping, calculate and record on the Order Form the shipping charges by: adding all the Line Prices to get the Product Total, finding the Shipping & Handling Charges by using the table on the form, adding the Shipping & Handling Charges to the Product Total to get the Order Total.
4	Complete the Form	Complete the contact and shipping information by: providing your NAME and ADDRESS for questions about the order, and if you are ordering items of an adult nature, declare that you are an adult in the jurisdiction in which you reside and sign the declaration. (Gay-MART will only ship items of an adult nature to customers who have declared that they are adults in the jurisdiction in which they will receive the items.)
5	Mail Your Order	Mail your printed order form, along with your check or money order, to the address given on the form.

USING A HANDWRITTEN FORM

1	Make the Form	Copy the headings from the order form located at Order Form on a blank piece of paper.
2	Add to the Form	As you display the shopping pages, write down the following information for items you wish to order on your handwritten Order Form: Product Number, Product Name, Qualifier (Color or Size), if there is one, Quantity Unit Canadian Price, in Canadian dollars if you are a Canadian resident, Unit US Price, in US dollars if you are a US resident, Unit World Price, in US dollars if you are neither a Canadian or US resident Line Price, for each product ordered, the Quantity times the Unit Price
3	Calculate Shipping Charges	When you are finished shopping, return to the on-line order form located at Order Form and calculate and record on your handwritten Order Form the shipping charges by: adding all the Line Prices to get the Product Total finding the Shipping & Handling Charges by using the table on the on-line Order Form, adding the Shipping & Handling Charges to the Product Total to get the Order Total.
4	Complete the Form	Complete the contact and shipping information by: providing your NAME and ADDRESS for questions about the order, and providing the NAME and ADDRESS WHERE the order is to be SHIPPED, and if you are ordering items of an adult nature, declare that you are an adult in the jurisdiction in which you reside and sign the declaration. (Gay-MART will only ship items of an adult nature to customers who have declared that they are adults in their jurisdiction.)
5	Mail Your Order	Mail your handwritten order form, along with your check or money order, to the address given on the on-line order form.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Payment Options for Canadian Residents

Canadian Residents using the shopping cart may elect to pay the Canadian price in Canadian dollars using their American Express, Discover, Mastercard or Visa credit card via the internet
or by check or moneyorder by using the option to print the cart contents and mailing them with the payment.

Since the quoted Canadian prices includes Canadian taxes and customs charges, Gay-MART will only honor orders from Canadian residents at the quoted Canadian prices. Credit card orders from Canadian residents at the US price will be refunded and cheques or money orders at the US price , even if in US Dollar funds, will be returned.

Canadian Residents using the printed or handwritten forms may elect to pay in Canadian dollars by cheque or money order by mail. Since the quoted Canadian prices take into account Canadian taxes and customs charges, Gay-MART will only honor orders from Canadian residents at the quoted Canadian prices. Canadian cheques or money orders for the US price will be returned.

Payment Options for US Residents

US Residents using the shopping cart may elect to pay the US price in US dollars using their American Express, Discover, Mastercard or Visa credit card via the internet or by check or moneyorder by using the option to print the cart contents and mailing them with the payment.

US Residents using the printed or handwritten forms, may elect to pay the US price in US dollars by check or money order by mail.

Payment Options for Residents of Listed Countries other than the USA or Canada

Residents of other Listed Countries using the shopping cart may elect to pay the World price in US dollars using their American Express, Discover, Mastercard or Visa credit card via the internet. internet.

Residents of other listed countries may use printed or handwritten forms with completed credit card information. Check or money order payment options are not available outside of the USA and Canada.

HOW IT WORKS

Normal Internet Conversations

In the normal Internet mode of communication between your computer and a website, the website does not remember which computer is yours or even whether you've made any previous requests. The website just receives requests, sends off the appropriate pages and then forgets about it.

Shopping Cart Conversations

In order for an electronic shopping cart to work, the website must remember which computer is yours as well as each of your requests to add products to the shopping cart.

To provide this memory, the first time you request the addition of a product to your shopping cart, the Gay-MART website creates a record of your request on its website and assigns this record a unique customer order number. In response to your first request, Gay-MART writes a file, called a "cookie", into an area set aside by your browser for just this purpose. The Gay-MART cookie contains two pieces of information:

the fact that the cookie was put there by Gay-MART and
the unique number of the order.

Each time another item is added, the Gay-MART website asks your browser what the customer order number is and then adds the product to the corresponding file on the website. This cookie allows the website to remember that you are the same person who added an earlier item without really knowing who you are.

Come Back Later

The use of a cookie also allows you to leave the Gay-MART website, visit other sites and return later to complete your shopping - as long as you don't shut down your browser. The shopping cart lasts until you shut your browser down or for 24 hours since you added the first product to the shopping cart - whichever is less.

Objections to Cookies

Some people object to cookies since they allow the websites you visit to use some of your system's resources when they write their cookie files onto your hard drive or they have concerns about the website being able to read the contents of some of their files. These concerns should be minor since there is a small maximum limit to the size of cookies and the number which can be written (when the space is filled, the browser replaces earlier cookies with new cookies) and the browser only allows the website to read the cookies it has written.

If you have continuing concerns, it is possible to turn the browser's cookie function off. However, if you do so, Gay-MART's shopping cart will not operate for you.

Cookie-Enabled Browsers

Most browsers support cookies- but some older browsers may not. If you have turned your cookie function off or are using a browser which does not support cookies, you will not be able to use Gay-MART's shopping cart.

Currently, Gay-MART can only process credit card purchases if you use the shopping cart.

Options

If you don't have cookie-enabled browser, you can still order from Gay-MART using either the printed form or the handwritten form and making a payment by check or money order.

Credit Card Payments

If you elect to pay by credit card, Gay-MART requests your shipping name and address and then passes your order information to our Credit Card Service Provider, Internet Secure, to process the credit card payment Internet Secure uses highly secure computers conforming to requirements set by major Canadian Banks and by American Express (Canada), Discover, Mastercard and VISA.

Although your order information is stored for 24 to 48 hours on Gay-MART's website, your credit card information is never seen or stored on the Gay-MART website or any other Gay-MART computer. The information remains on the InternetSecure computer for the amount of time required by the card processor Bank to authorize the transaction, but is deleted soon after. InternetSecure keeps your product information and a transaction number issued by the credit card company. The only computers which have your credit card number and the transaction record are those of the bank or credit card company.

SECURITY & CONFIDENTIALITY

Consumer Concerns

The three main Internet security and confidentiality concerns for consumers are:

someone could intercept information you are sending to a website, or
someone could break into the computers of a company you've sent information and retrieve your information, or
the company could sell or make available your information to others.

Across the Internet

When you use the Gay-MART shopping cart, it is possible, but unlikely, that someone could intercept your product order, shipping address or other information submitted to the Gay-MART website. Credit card information is not submitted to the Gay-MART website.

At Gay-MART

Once your order is submitted, your order information is maintained on the Gay-MART website for 24 to 48 hours. Although the Gay-MART website is protected by security software, it is possible, but unlikely, that someone could retrieve your product order, shipping address or other information during that period.

After that period, the information is removed to Gay-MART's internal computers where it is maintained for at least seven years to comply with agreements made with financial institutions. Again, it is possible that someone could break into the internal computers. However, there is still no record of your credit card information on either the website or on Gay-MART's internal computers.

At InternetSecure

If you order by credit card, Gay-MART also provides your order information to InternetSecure. This information is provided to InternetSecure so that it can be provided to the credit card company in case there is a question from you about what you ordered in a given transaction or if there is a question from InternetSecure whether Gay-MART is selling prohibited goods. InternetSecure is contractually required not to make any other use of this information.

To complete the credit card transaction, you have to provide your credit card information to InternetSecure. InternetSecure provides a secure connection to your browser to do this. Your credit card information is encrypted during transmission to make its interception useless to an eavesdropper.

Confidentiality

Gay-MART will not disclose information about its customers or their individual transactions with the exceptions of providing financial institutions and their agents with the information necessary to complete a financial transaction or unless compelled to do so by law. Financial institutions and their agents are required by the Government of Canada to maintain your privacy and confidentiality.
